About the Project
I created Wisconsin Harvest in response to a call for artists for the annual Art Infusion event in Janesville, Wisconsin. As a finalist, I responded to the theme of the area’s agricultural traditions while connecting that history to the bread made by Great Harvest Bread Company.
The mural draws inspiration from the landscape of Wisconsin farmland as seen from a distance. I abstracted fields into a bold, colorful palette, beginning with the familiar image of a Wisconsin farm and transitioning into vibrant seasonal fields. The composition narrows toward the harvest of wheat—the essential ingredient that ultimately becomes bread.
I painted the mural myself in just one week along the Rock River in Janesville. The Art Infusion event culminated in a weekend of art activities throughout the city, with visitors and art enthusiasts encouraged to watch the mural take shape.
Today, Wisconsin Harvest can be viewed from the riverwalk, as well as from a distance while crossing either of the two bridges on either side of the mural’s location.
